Most of us are familiar with the five books of Moses. In them Moses interlaced a historical narrative replete with both symbolism and repetitive poetic structure to set the foundation for the rest of redemptive history. But have you ever considered the genius of John? His five books are an unparalleled literary masterpiece. From John's opening brilliance, "In the beginning was the Word," to his closing benediction, "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen," they provide a majestic tapestry of the whole of redemptive history. To listen to them again and again is transformational. As the beloved apostle so beautifully put it, "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life."
